HHO: Introduce yourself to the fans

Jacoby X: This Jacoby X coming out of Birmingham, Alabama graduate of Tuskegee university class of 2015. I’m a rapper, singer, and songwriter who has been doing music for about 4 years seriously. I have opened for 2chainz, Migos, Trina, and diamond from crime mob. I’m just a hardworking artist that’s looking to accomplish every goal I’ve set for myself and take everything that anyone said I couldn’t have.

HHO: How did your artist name come about?

Jacoby X: My artist name came about after studying the life of Malcolm X and my ppl and how we are the descendants of so called slaves and that we attained a last name that wasn’t our original. Being that I am inspired and influenced by Malcolm X in my work I decided to add the X to my first name to pay homage to him and to also detach myself from the name that isn’t my own.

HHO: Where are you from?

Jacoby X: Im from Birmingham, Alabama but have lived in different areas of Alabama growing up. I left Birmingham in 2001 and moved to Chilton county. I then moved to Prattville Alabama and now i reside in Tuskegee, Alabama.

HHO: Who were your musical influences growing up?

Jacoby X: My musical influences growing up were Michael Jackson, who is my idol in the music world, lil Wayne, Jamie foxx, and numerous gospel singers that influenced me as well such as, Fred Hammond, the winans brothers, hezekiah walker, canton jones, Kirk Franklin, and William Murphy.

HHO: What hip-hop albums did you grow up listening to?

Jacoby X: I didn’t grow up having any HipHop albums in my house because my dad was a pastor and a real strict one so I wasn’t able to bring those types of cd s in the house so I usually snuck around listening to rap on BET, but the artist who I listened to the most were lil Wayne and the hotboys, biggie, ludacris, outkast, and Rick Ross

HHO: What is the current single/project that you are promoting?

Jacoby X: The current single I’m promoting is called Young Negus, a track produced by my Highschool teammate name aceboogiebeats.

HHO: How did the record come about?

Jacoby X: The record came about because of all the confusion going on in the world dealing with Donald trump and the mistreatment of people of color in amerikkka. I got tired and fed up with all of the injustice that has happened and is still happening in this society we’re living in, especially dealing with the cops as well who have been really going on a rampage it seems like towards people of color.

HHO: What would be your dream collaboration with any rapper or producer?

Jacoby X: My dream collaborations would be with Meek Mill, J Cole, Rick Ross, Zaytoven, Metro Boomin, and Isaiah rashad.

HHO: How is the response from your fans & djs been?

Jacoby X: With my fans and djs Ive been getting great feedback from them. I don’t have a massive fanbase yet but I believe once I get my name out there more my fanbase and relationships with more djs will increase but the ones that do enjoy my work really are supportive of my grind.

HHO: What artists do you listen to the most?

Jacoby X: The artists I listen to the most are myself, meek mill, YFN Lucci, Rick Ross, J.Cole, and mainly 90’s R&B if it’s not these guys.

HHO: What are your plans for 2017? What are you doing that others are not?

Jacoby X: My plans for 2017 are to drop a new mixtape and increase my fanbase and establish a successful and marketable brand. Also hopefully to begin touring and capitalizing on more show opportunities
