Alexander Wang Debuts His Adidas Collaboration

Sep 11 2016

Ever since it was first announced last month, the fashion world has been buzzing with anticipation about Alexander Wang’s collaboration with Adidas. Last night, the former Balenciaga designer finally debuted his new line during his show at New York Fashion week.

One of the most noticeable aspects of Wang’s new line is the way he literally flipped Adidas iconic logo upside down. “Originals is such an iconic brand, with instantly recognizable symbols and trademarks. It’s both grounded in heritage and also completely modern,” Wang explained to Vogue. “With this collection, the idea was to take the codes and iconography of the Adidas Originals brand and look at what their symbols mean and turn them on their head, to invert what’s on the surface and add a layer of subversion; also to toy with the idea of what’s authentic and what’s fake, and how a certain setting can change perception entirely.”

Wang’s entire 84-piece lineup is designed to be totally unisex and features both apparel and footwear.

For all you New Yorkers out there, Wang is making a nine-piece capsule that includes a tee, sweatshirt, hoodie, tricot, and three footwear styles available today. The only way to purchase them, however, is to make your way over to one of the pop-up trucks that will be making stops throughout the city Sunday. Locations and times include at noon at Canal and Mercer Streets in Soho; 3:00 p.m at 5th Avenue and 57th Street in Midtown; and 6:00 p.m. at McCarren Park at Bedford Avenue and 12th Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
